Karen Janke is a Board Certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She began her nursing career in the triad area of North Carolina after graduating from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Pre-Medical studies and Exercise Physiology in 2007 and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bacherlor’s in Nursing in 2015. She worked with cardiac and vascular surgery ICU patients at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. Subsequently, she worked in Level I Trauma critical care at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital while attending graduate school.
She graduated from Duke University’s Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program with high honors in 2019 with a Master’s in Nursing.
Karen brings to the practice nearly 14 years of diverse direct patient care experience ranging from her earliest days as an EMT in college, through 7 years of Endocrine and Diabetes management prior to finishing her BSN. Her areas of clinical interest are in vascular surgery, endovascular interventions, functional and cosmetic vein restoration, as well as lymphedema management. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society.
In her free time, Karen is an avid equestrian who enjoys time in the saddle training with her two horses, hiking in the mountains, and spending time with friends and family.
